We worked hard to look and feel good on our vacation, but it’s just as important to feel good during your stay, right? Here are some tips to keep feeling fit during your vacation.

  1. 50/50 principle
    I learned this from Anna Victoria. One of the first Instagram fitness models. So, she gets all the credit. She normally eats greens and whole foods for 80% of the time and 20% of her diets consists of things she loves, but that are not necessarily very healthy or filled with vitamins. Whenever she’s travelling, she has a 50/50 approach. For 50 % of the time, pick fruits and veggies and drink lots of water. And the other 50% fill it in with less healthy but with things you would love to try or have chocolate coating for example. It’s okay!2. Don’t try to restrict yourself from everything.
    You love ice cream right? I do too. Why say no to it? Instead: enjoy every single one of them. Even if that means you’ll have to make better choices with other meals.

    3. Order vegetables
    I missed the veggies, in Spain it was almost impossible to order veggies without asking. And eating fried food almost every day, doesn’t make you feel good. Believe me, been there done that.. So try out the salads (on the side) and ask for extra veggies. Still try to eat veggies with almost every meal.

    4. Vacay doesn’t mean over eat (or drink)
    If you’re staying in an all-inclusive resort, the chance you’re going to eat a lot more, is quite big. But you are going to stay more than one breakfast and you will have plenty of time to try all the deserts. Take your time and divide it into the week.

    5. Keep moving

Getting a sweat in is the best way to feel fit. It’s not only a physical thing, it’s mostly mental. Working hard for something makes you feel good and that’s the feeling we’re after. So always try to keep moving. And by that I mean, more moving then just form the bar to you poolside bed. Run in the morning, or go for a quick HIIT workout like I showed on Shiwis Instagram. Rent bikes, climb a mountain (or three) and do some active exploring. It’s fun, you’ll see!

  1. About alcohol

I’m not a big drinker, but for those who love their cocktails on a rooftop bar and made with fresh limes: watch the calories. Alcohol contains a lot of calories in the form of carbs. You could cut the carbs out of your diet for the day or just keep it in the back of your mind. And drink lots of water as well.

 

Do you know the phrase ‘For a bikini body, all you need is your body and a bikini’? It’s true. But I know how it can feel, the first time in a bikini that summer. It’s something to get over and after that you will just enjoy it all. That should be your number one priority on your vacation: enjoy all of it.
